My mom’s Kitchen Accident

Last week, my mom had an accident. I, Yusuf, the youngest child was at home when it happened. I was playing with my new toy car. Suddenly I heard my mom calling, “Help! Help!” I ran to the kitchen. My mom had burnt herself with some hot cooking oil. She was crying with pain and the pan was on fire. My dad had gone to the office. My siblings had gone to school.

I was too small to help my mom, and she was too frightened to speak sensibly to me. But I ran to the neighbor’s house and asked my neighbor to come and help my mom. The neighbor soon put out the fire and took my mom to the clinic.

When my dad came home, my mom told him what had happened. He was very proud of me, “When you are a man, you will be just like your father,” she said.
